The Good Spy
The Good Spy is Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Kai Bird’s compelling portrait of the remarkable life and death of one of the most important operatives in CIA history – a man who, had he lived, might have helped heal the rift between Arabs and the West. Before being killed (along with 62 others) in the horrendous 1983 bombing of the US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, CIA agent Robert Ames fought tirelessly to bridge the gap between Arabs and the West. In doing so, his career - highlighted by a tumultuous and more than a decade long working relationship with senior PLO official Ali Hassan Salameh - became the teaching example as to the skills, bravery, and character needed to make a truly good spy.
